Little Racel Dark by Kreina Gioertz( K.S. Thomas) Adventure

Good Day Folks,

LittleRacherCover10+ stars
Every now and then you have a book adventure better than normal. I met K.S Thomas(Kreina Gioertz) and her lovely daughter . Both K.S. Thomas and I won best children book awards at Turning the Pages Award Ceremony in Orlando April 26th. Her book “ Little Rachel Dark” won best children’s ages 6-8. So I down loaded the book, all I can say is wow. I would suggest this read for all ages. Only you can find your inner light and let it out for everyone to see. Beautiful important message for all! The story flows and I could not put it down until I finished the story. I have read it more than once. The illustrations are beautiful and add to the story. It made me feel all warm, tingly and best thing of all smile. The story is about a young girl who has no face. Her pet zebra Candy Stripe one day says I bet you have a beautiful smile and eyes under that black blur. The zebra tries to find her beautiful face with the wind, make-up, flashlight but none of those works. Shockingly when the flashlight was used to find her face it changes to empty space. Rachel tired and little of afraid of change and is use to her black blur. She has a dream about the sun which is blocked out by fog and dark clouds. Rachel wants to help the sun shine through suggests using wind. The sun tells her it does not need her help and laughs. It can take care of that all on its own. The sun closed its eyes and thinks of all the things that made it happy. The sun became brighter and was no longer hidden. Rachel asks how the sun did this. The sun smiled and said “It was easy; you have to learn to shine from the inside out. When you find your light, you never have to worry about being in the dark.” Rachel awakens and finds her light. The ending is a wonderful message of self-discovery and how fun the adventure is. This book should be in every elementary school. I wish I would have purchased a signed copy while I was at the book signing event in Orlando. I want this book in print.

Behind the Story
The story of Little Rachel literally came to me in a dream and I woke up with the title swirling around repeatedly in my mind as if my subconscious was making sure it would stick so I’d remember it once I was fully coherent. Thankfully, I did At the time, I had recently experienced the loss of someone very close to me and I was struggling with my own darkness. In a way, I think writing this story helped remind me of how simple it really is to turn on the light…when we’re ready.
Author Karina Gioertz (also writes under K.S. Thomas)
Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar….oh…and I write some
Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that’s the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess – just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name…If I wasn’t a writer, I would work on a horse ranch – I’m an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I’m going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate…or coffee…if you bring me both, I’ll probably love you forever.
A gypsy at heart, I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children’s Lit to Thrillers.
K.S Thomas is her authors name and has adult books as well.

Carved in Cherry (The Curse Collectors Series) by Elizabeth Kirke Adventure

Good Day Folks
Coming June First!
One thing set Lydia Shaw and her store apart from the other antique shops in town…
Lydia’s collection was plagued by curses, and it was her duty to break them.
Rachel, Angie, and Jo knew nothing about their aunt’s secret life. In fact, they didn’t even know she owned an antique shop, until they inherited it. Unfortunately for them, Lydia passed down more than just her store. The sisters are the proud new owners of countless deadly curses, buried under centuries of dust.
Lydia also left behind her apprentice, Peter. He does everything he can to protect the girls, as they explore their new store, unaware of the dangers it hides. In spite of his efforts, Rachel finds herself obsessed with opening a strange trunk, Angie has vivid dreams, haunted by a man who claims he needs her help, and Jo’s imagination starts to run wild.
When one of them falls victim to a curse, it’s up to Peter and her sisters to save her. But, if Peter can’t teach them to wield a magic, that he barely understands himself, she’ll be the first one to die…
Here’s an exclusive sneak peek for you!

   “Who are you?” she called.
The man frowned at her. “You can … you can see me?”
The question caught her off guard. Angie wasn’t sure what she had been expecting him to ask, but that wasn’t it. “Y-yes. Who are you?”
He cleared his throat. “Ethan. My name is Ethan.” He moved toward her, and the light from the cell phone made him easier to see and less threatening. “What’s your name?”
   “Angie.”
Angie studied him. He was cute. He had dirty blond hair, which was styled and gelled up unusually high. Khaki pants and a knit, button up sweater, made up his really preppy, bordering on outdated, outfit.
Ethan smiled at her. He looked happy. No, more than happy, he looked overjoyed. “Angie,” he breathed. “You’re beautiful.”
Well, that was straight-forward and awkward. Angie smiled weakly. “Uh … thanks.”
It seemed like he realized his comment had made her uncomfortable. “I’m sorry. It’s just that you’re the first person I’ve seen … the first person I’ve spoken to in a long time.”
   “How long?”
Ethan shook his head. “I don’t know.”
She realized, with a start, that she recognized him. “Oh my God, I saw you! I saw your reflection today!”
   “You did?”
The thought made Angie’s heart pound. She had been awake then. How had she seen him while awake? She took another look at his clothes. Did anybody dress like that anymore? God, what if he’s a freaking ghost? He looked real, solid. Alive. Weren’t ghosts supposed to be transparent or something? “I don’t understand. How can I see you when … if nobody else can?”
Ethan furrowed his brows at her. “What is your trisk-rune?”
   “What?”
   “Your trisk-rune. What is it?”
Angie shook her head. “I don’t know what you mean.”
He seemed confused by her answer. “You don’t know what your trisk-rune is?” He looked around. “But then … what are you doing here?”
“Here? In the shop?” Angie shrugged. “My sisters and I—”
Ethan stumbled back a step. “What? Your sisters?”
   “Yes.”
“You’re one of them? Is that why you can see me?”
“What?” Angie took a step closer. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“You did this to me!” he yelled. “You and your sisters!”
“No!” Angie shook her head, baffled. “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” As she spoke, she moved closer to him and reached out, even though he was halfway across the room.
“Stay away from me!” He waved his hands through the air and then, to Angie’s utter shock, a ball of white fire was flying toward her.
As she raised her hands to protect herself, she screamed.

* the physical and behavioral characteristics of Fragile X

* the effects of Fragile X on learning, functioning and daily activities

* medication and therapy

* how fragile X affects the family.

Cindi Rogers and her husband, Chris, share the perspectives and tools they embraced in order to help their boys be as happy and independent as they can possibly be. It is a story of challenges, tears, joy and hope.

Cindi and her family have travelled to conferences around the world to present her innovative strategies, helping families not only to live with fragile X, but to also thrive. It has become her personal mission to share techniques to help families generate ideas that they can implement in their own world, while helping their children with fragile X syndrome to live happier, more independent lives. Today, Cindi serves on the board of directors for Developmental FX in Denver, a non-profit that helps families just like hers learn to thrive in the face of fragile X syndrome. 4 stars
This story is truly a birthday adventure. The book will make you smile, laugh, sad and happy. Jenny is all excited about her birthday. She runs with party favors to get things ready for her party and trips and falls and breaks her arm. Her mother takes her the hospital and she needs surgery to correct it. Jenny is upset no birthday party with her four best friends. The rest of her family comes to the hospital and try to cheer her up. Her mother leaves and brings in balloons, cake and her friends to celebrate her birthday in her hospital room. It is a fun, sad happy story. The story goes through the process of being in the hospital and how family comes together to make the best out of a situation. The illustrations by Jodi Stone are fantastic. They are bright, colorful and fun. I think children will enjoy the book. Please check out Crystal Clifton’s and Jodi Stone’s other books.

 Good Day Folks.

Have You Ever Seen a Firefly? By Debbie Estrem
Illustrated by Kim Sponaugle  Adventure!
4 stars
Have You Ever Seen a Firefly is a fun read for preschool to early reader. Is a sweet book that asks if you have seen or done things? It explores the adventures and questions that kids have. I like the ending. “Have you counted the stars at night” It encourages dreaming, adventure and exploring and could lead to learning and discussions of the little exciting things young ones experience. The illustrations by Kim Sonaugle are beautiful and full of the little adventures we all have ,even enjoying chocolate pudding. They really enhance the book.

Something Scary in Frogville Adventure!

Good Day Folks,

Something Scary in Frogville by Perry Perkins 5 stars

Now I know what a frog town is like.  Sure enjoyed my adventure at Frogville

The story is filled with descriptive fun characters.  I enjoyed the story. The illustrations enhance the story. Your reader will enjoy the story, and learn that things are not what they appear to be.  Being nice to someone who may stutter, or is clumsy does not mean they are scrary or cannot help.  The lesson is woven nicely into the exciting story.

Children ages 7 to 9 and adults will enjoy this story.

Frogville is having a rough year. It is and the fish have moved to the center of the nearby lake so the frogs fishing poles do not reach where the fish are.  So they must eat greens and cabbage mostly. Then to top it all off there is something  big in the woods at the edge of frogville, which is close to the Bugaboo’s home.  The Mayor decides that Bumblefoot Bugaboo will investigate and slay the stranger. Bumblefoots real name is Bartholomew but everyone called him Bumblefoot because he had large feet and tripped often. The Mayor gave him the great spear  as he reminds Bartholomew the battle to claim their town. That evening when Bartholomew and his younger sister Emma hears the sounds he sets out to find the stranger. As Bartholomew is thinking of how to confront the huge beast his sister  appearsand starts asking questions. They find out what he is and why he is there.  They discover  Neville a Nutinia and he left his home because he was picked on by the way he spoke. He stuttered. Then he lost his glasses in the lake and can’t  see very well. They become friends and they take him to see the Mayor.Frogville folks get their fishing poles out and Emma finds his glasses. Then Nelville puts them on and swims out with his fishing net and brings back a net full of fish. The Mayor decides, they must have a community meal and invites Nelville to join.
