Short Description: Do you believe in reincarnation and a love that can last lifetimes?

I thoroughly enjoyed, Mrs. Sloat’s novel, “The Many Lives of Avery Snow”. It was intriguing from the first page. Mrs. Sloat does an excellent job with character and relationship development. The author draws you into the plot, where a young adult, Avery, begins to recall her previous lives and the meetings with her soul mate in each one. Avery starts to think she is hallucinating when Angels start appearing in her life and she starts having visions. Mrs. Sloat, does an excellent job of portraying the feelings and emotions that accompany the relationships in the books drawing the reader into the story. We wind up being caught in the ever present battle between good and evil.  She builds up to the climax with climbing anticipation, although I felt there was a little missing in some of the characters that showed up at the cabin. The final chapters, that tie everything together are well organized and compelling. They give a tremendous sense of satisfaction without compromising the plot or the point.

Overall I thought this is an excellent, easy read. Mrs. Sloat does a terrific job of integrating the powers of angels and demons, but could have expanded a little more on the psychic realms. Her novel stresses the concept of past lives, and everlasting love without over dramatizing or farfetched logic. Her characters are her strong point, as is her overall plot development.

Review of Bread of Fools

Standard

Good Day Folks,

I have the honor to review Bread of Fools by Duncan McGonall

This book is intriguing. Like many of us we reflect on our lives. The main character is reflecting on his life mostly his interactions with his brother.  Bruce wants to know what the secrets are and why he was kept in the dark. He begins to discover answers then there are more questions with vague answers.  He discovers how to be within two parallel universes. (Firma where humans live, and Supra where Gragona live) is called Nethertwain. There are eleven keys which control the Incarnation cycle and some of them are missing, which is throwing the mana out of balance between the two worlds. He has guides sometimes they are helpful often they create more frustration and he has to figure out how to make sense of what is going on. Bruce is a magi and had his powers bound so he was not aware. The story picks up after  bit too much detail at times bogs down the story much like Arthur C Clarke’s books, but I was very intrigued and wanted to know what was happening to Bruce and what he needed to do and his purpose is in the two universes. There are 11 keys to maintain the balance between Gragona and Firma universes and some of them are missing.  Once you get past the long build up it gets quite exciting which is why I am giving it a 4 star. It is a good read and look forward to Duncan McGonall next story.

What have I been up to

Standard

Good Day Folks,

I have been busy. I am a PTO President so I have been writing and organizing a Ice Cream Social and Scholastic Book Fair for the past week. I am fortunate to have some fab Moms and Dads helping this year. I think we had 15 helping with the entire event this year. We had our library cut in half to accommodate a kindergarten classroom this year. Love those budget cuts forcing us to consolidate schools. So we lost our Early Childhood Center where all the Kindergarten classes were located in our small city. Very sad but we are adjusting. My 4th grade girls really like have the Kindergarten Kids in the school. They think they are cute and enjoy being reading buddies with the kids. On Fridays they have a reading buddy and can go down and take them in the hall and read a book to them or help them read a book. It is a nice program. It was so nice to have our Reading Heroes visit and help kids pick out books. I was pleased the Principal allowed me to show them my book. I am hoping one day my books will get into the Scholastic Book Fairs.

James Saves the Moon with Book Girl and Reader Hero

We had a ball at the Book Fair. We had to make changes. We had a scaled down version in the Library for two days then took it down and moved it to the Gym for our Ice Cream Social and Book Fair. It went smoothly(meaning everything went as planned) and was a blast. It was great to be able to chat with other parents we see in passing in the morning or dropping off for other activities these kids have.  I did manage to get some editing done and send my ideas for book marks off to the University Copy center to help with the design.  Boy I was tired last night. I was sleeping by 8pm.

If any of you host book fairs or other reading events at your elementary schools I highly recommend having Reading Heroes. The kids love it. Book Girl and Reader Hero will return in March for March Reading Month.

I also received my second illustration for my third book Tomfoolery and 13 Yule Lads of Iceland. Christmas is early for me. It is a Christmas story so I am hoping the publisher can fast track this one. The adventure is so much fun.

Enjoy Your Adventures, WB

Review Anissa Part One

Standard

Good Evening , Anissa part one written by XchylerConn  just recently posted  on Solstice Publishing.  This is going to be a free series you can down load. First I would like to say I love the cover.  The cover intices me to look further into the book. The intro was gripping and I wanted to know more, what is going on, why is she confused.

I found Chapters 1 through 4 quite intriguing and interesting. Its is spooky and eerie . I want to know more about all the players. What is a question asked by Rachelle. Do you know what? She asked. I want to know what does it mean Anissa is the key to the Gate and what lays beyond the gate.  I want to know who really is the good guys and bad guys. The ending is a good cliff hanger.  Can’t wait for part two. I recommend this quick read and get into the Halloween spirit. Bye for now, WB
