Murder on Mars by M.M Shelley Adventure
Standard
It is my pleasure to review Murder on Mars by M. M. Shelley. All I can say is what a spectacular reading adventure. I love mysteries and this book is jam packed with mysteries. This is a murder mystery with a twist because it takes you on and adventure on the real streets of New Orleans and the Shadow Streets of New Orleans. What more can I say well plenty. Ava a young gal receives a message her best friend Dyson is missing. Then a body amongst other bodies are found. Is Dyson one of the them or not. Ava must unravel the mystery to Dyson’s disappearance. Then add paranormal twist to it with the shadow world. Ava discovers much about herself and that she can see the shadows. She can travel the streets in both worlds. As she unravels the mysteries and players she also is discovering aspects of herself and her history. She is young and discovers she is one tough gal. The author does good job with the transitions. It is a page turner for sure. I just loved it. I look forward to reading other books by M.M. Shelley and the next one that may give us more details about Ava’s background and secrets she is unraveling about herself. I want to know more. Keep up the good work M.M. Shelley.

Reflection Adventure goodbye 2012 hello 2013
AsideGood Day Folks,
13 is my lucky number woo hoo come on 2013. I am ready (Ramble Alert)
I have been doing a lot of investigating, learning, waiting and reflecting the last couple of months. It has been a good year for the most part. I am on the cusp of a new adventure. I just have to choose the path or will I let the path choose me.This is what seems to happen to me most of the time. It seems every time I know the direction I want to take or the place I wish to live. Something or someone changes the path. They have always been interesting twists in the road but I always wonder when will it be my turn to choose the direction. Maybe 2013 will be the year I drive the future for a while then again maybe not. What ever happens it will be an interesting adventure.
I have now been down this writing path for about 7 years. I never ever thought I would be a writer. I was looking for a career that I could do anywhere since we have moved so many times. Frankly no one really wants to hire a woman over 40. This was made quite clear in the last 5 years. Shocking but very clear. So as I always do I adjust, adapt and wow have I been having fun learning the publishing business.
My latest interview by a wonderful author Karen Pokras Toz. Check out her tween age books they all rock.
She asked Can you see yourself in any of your characters? No one ever asked me that question. It has had me thinking ever since.
I was thinking and thinking, then it hit me my characters are like imaginary friends. I am retelling their adventures. I have lots of vivid dreams always have. My Mother use to tell me she could hear me talking in my sleep all the time. My dreams feel real and I wake up often tired from my busy adventure dreams. Sometimes important people that have passed away come and chat for a while or need to be told it is ok to open the door to the next place you will be ok. That was the last conversation I had with my father. He passed away my guess during that dream. I even had a dream about my best friend growing up my cat Spitzy. She told me to name the new cat that adopted us in Idaho Rigsby. The next day my Mom called and said your cat died. Well anyway my very first imaginary friend was Susie. We did everything together. She was the best. I do not know where she went. She left when my brother was brought home from the hospital. I like to think she is always near.
Now after reflecting I do not think I answered Karen’s question very well. I think all my characters have a little of me in them and a lot of the people I allow in my inner circle or are part of my inner circle like family. Their have been many interesting people I have met through the years which work into my characters. I did say Blaze the dragon and Carolyn seem to have some of me in them. But really I think they have become my new imaginary friends. When I write about them in my novel called the New Moon Brethren. I really feel like I am there with them in their inner tight circle. Same with all my writing. I am there with my characters whether like Watson describing the adventure as an observer or really with them as they make their discoveries. It is quite fun. Like my dreams I am usually very tired after a writing adventure. James in my children’s series he has many of the characteristics of my son. Matt the dragon has many of the characteristics of my dear friend Tina’s son who is the same age as my son. Syvok is like my friend Kristin in Iceland. She was the first local in Iceland who talked to me.Like Blaze and Carolyn in my novel they are a mixture of many of my friends who are now at a time in their lives they have responsibilities and often like most woman their needs or wants get put on the back burner to handle situations. It called life and its what we do. That is how I pick characters. I figure out what kind of personality I am looking then look at the people I have met. I am lucky I have met many people from all over. I will have a life time of characters to write about.
So when your child has an imaginary friend do not be concerned it is a good thing. They may become the next bestselling author. I sure love all my real and imaginary friends. I would not trade them for anything in the world.
Happy New Year to all, May it bring good things to us all and more grand adventures.WB

AG Book Club Adventure~ Golden and Ethan’s My Life with Autism
StandardGood Day Folks,
I am having a grand adventure at Anchor Group Publishing book club. This month we had two books to read, enjoy and report on.
Just click on the cover to take you to the amazon link.
The first book is a Children’s book called Ethan’s Story: My Life with Autism
This book is written from an child’s point of view and Ethan did a fabulous job relating his story. The book is colorful and fun. While at the same time teaches us the struggles and misunderstanding of children with autism. My girls read the book and thought it was quite interesting. They have an autism program at their school. And at times would come home and ask why did a AI child to this or that. After reading the book and being exposed properly at school they now have a better understanding and realize these children have the same struggles as they do in school. They just have a different way it is portrayed in the public. I found this read insightful, fun and interesting. And Yes Ethan we are the way we are and its a good thing we all have special gifts and struggle. I am purchasing this book for our schools Autistic program at the school. I hope the school will incorporate the book at the school and use it as a learning tool. You can keep up with Ethan’s adventures on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/EthansStoryMyLifeWithAutism
The Second book we were given to read was Golden by Monika Pardon
Just click on the cover for link to amazon.
I loved this book. The story begins with a young gal attending her Grandmother’s funeral. Everyone is against her for some reason, she cannot trust anyone. Then while in the woods she has an encounter with three bears. Yes three bears. She has been changed into something and finds out how important she is to the world or worlds. A lot for this young lady to take on she does not really know who to turn to or trust. There is a handsome young man of course but is he on her side or her enemies. Not to give away anymore of the story. I recommend this good read. It was fun and a clever way to find out what happens after an encounter with three bears in the woods. Down load today you will enjoy the adventure. You can keep up with the author Monika Pardon on facebook at

James Sleigh Ride Adventure, Wishing Everyone A Wonderful Holiday and Happy New Year
StandardJames Sleigh Ride Adventure
James is having a lazy afternoon watching T.V. He looks out the window in the living room. The sky is dark. The snow and twinkling of Christmas lights all over the town brighten up the arctic December day. He is thinking maybe he should call his neighbor to see if they want to go out sledding. All of sudden he sees a blue flash, followed by two turquoise flashes. It can’t be, but it must be. He feels the warmth on his chest from his stone pendant that Syvok and Helga gave him. He smiles and dashes to his room. He grabs his winter gear off of the coat rack. An Adventure is on its way. He opens the door to his room to see a blue face smiling at him through his bedroom window. He slips on his jacket as he runs to the window, flips up the latch, and the cold wind blows around him. He sees Alex and Bethany flying all around, showing off their loopy loops.
“Hi Matt,” says James.
Syvok pops his head over Matt’s. Both Syvok and Matt say hi.
Bethany and Alex fly up to the window and accidentally hit Syvok. He falls off the side of Matt but grabs his leg before falling to the ground. Syvok begins the climb back up.
“James how would you like to come with us to deliver a sleigh?” asks Matt.
“Where are you delivering the sleigh to?” asks James.
Syvok swooshes Alex and Bethany aside as he climbs back up Matt’s neck. They giggle and fly off.
“We are taking it to the North Pole,” says Matt.
“The North Pole, You mean where Santa lives?” exclaims James.
Matt and Syvok nod their heads up and down at the same time.
“He has a sleigh, so why does he need another?” asks James.
“Um well, I guess the reindeer’s were goofing around and crashed. The elves cannot fix it in time. He is borrowing the Icelandic Yule Lad’s sleigh,” says Syvok.
“Wow, I bet the reindeer’s were in trouble, “says James.
James slips on his boots and pulls his hat and gloves out of his coat pocket. He climbs out the window and slides down Matt’s neck. He grabs Syvok’s hand, pulling Syvok along for the ride, to his seat on the blue dragon’s back. Off they go, north to the Icelandic Yule Lad’s cave. They land and James sees the Black Yule Cat and it snarls at him. He walks around it to the huge doors in the front of the cave. The doors open and there is a huge sleigh ready to be pulled outside with 13 Yule Lads all around it. Everyone greets each other. The Yule Lads are so excited that Santa needs their sled. Stiffy Legs picks James up and tosses him in the sleigh. Syvok floats in.
The Yule Lads push the sleigh out the door on to the snow in front. Bethany and Alex want to pull the sled.
“No way,” shouts Syvok.
Matt smiles and nods his head yes to the dragonets. They fly to the front and attach two of the harnesses around their necks. Syvok is standing with his arms crossed.
“I need a seat belt,” remarks Syvok.
Alex and Bethany do a quick pull and Syvok falls backwards into the back cargo area of the sled. Everyone chuckles except Matthias. He bugles loudly. Syvok climbs back to the front next to James. Syvok reaches into his pouch down by his hips. He tosses his fairy dust all over everyone and they all begin to glow. He then grabs the reigns. The dragonets stand up straight and listen to the reprimand from Matthias. They both apologize to Syvok.
“Humph, this is going to be a long night. Hopefully we can get this sleigh to the North Pole in one piece,” remarks Syvok. James places his hand on Syvok’s shoulder.
“We will. The whole team is here, and so far we have been successful as long as we work together,” says James.
Syvok looks up and smiles. Matt hops into the air.
“Mush,” says Syvok. The dragonets turn their heads and giggle. The dragonets hop and start running toward the edge of the cliff, extending their wings in unison as they glide out in the air with the sleigh in tow. Syvok attaches the reins on the gold horn and holds on for dear life. James jumps to the back and sees the Yule Lads hopping up and down and waving goodbye. James waves back.
With Matt in the lead, they have gone past the Greenland Sea and are over the Arctic Ocean. James and Syvok are chatting during the whole trip. Matt bugles and they all hear “Land Ho.”
James and Syvok look over the side of the sleigh. As they head towards the North Pole James spots a huge polar bear sitting at the edge of the water. The polar bear is standing up, waving her arms back and forth, as if to flag them down. James says “look at that. Let’s stop and take a look.” Syvok says “No, we have to get to Santa’s village.”
The dragonets circle around following Matt. They land about twenty feet away from the polar bear. Matthias lands next to her. They seem to be talking. The polar bear looks frantic.
Matt jumps over to where the sleigh is.
“This polar bear’s baby bear went too far out on the ice and a block broke off. It floated out to sea before she could save him. She asked if we could help,” says Matt.
“Syvok, you stay with the Mamma bear while we go look for the baby bear,” says Matt.
Syvok jumps out and places some fairy dust on his palm. It glitters for a moment then settles down on his gloved hand, resembling a shining light. He walks over to the bear and tosses more of the fairy dust so the bear will glow like everyone else. Matt jumps up in the air and we follow in the sleigh. They are flying close to the water looking for the poor baby polar bear. All of a sudden they hear shrieking and growling. They found him, but the baby bear is freaked out.
“He is afraid of us,” Matt says.
“Matt, pick me up and drop me on the block, then you need to go back and get his Momma. Maybe then he will let us place him in the sleigh,” says James. They are circling the ice block with the baby polar bear on it.
“It’s too dangerous. He may try to tear you apart,” says Matt.
James takes his stone necklace, which is glowing bright, and places it outside of his jacket so everyone can see it.
“I have a feeling it will be alright. Please let’s try. If he attacks just scoop me out fast, okay?” pleads James.
“Okay, but at the first sign of trouble we pick you up,” says Matt.
Matt picks up James and slowly drops him on the other side of the ice block. The baby bear is howling, growling, and showing his teeth. Matt flies out of sight. The dragonets are still circling but they take off to go get the Momma bear and Syvok.
James stands very still as the baby bear sits down, whimpering as it looks at the glowing pendant. James slowly gets on his hands and knees and slowly crawls up to the baby bear. The baby bear lies down next to him and James hugs the baby bear.
Meanwhile, Alex and Bethany fly as fast as they can back to Syvok and the Momma Bear. Matt, after seeing that James is safe, lands a couple of minutes behind the sleigh.

They land next to the pair sitting next to each other. They explain everything and both Syvok and the huge Momma Bear climb in to the sled. The Momma Bear gets in the back of the sled. Matt instructs the dragonets that he needs to pull the sleigh and they will rescue James and the baby bear. Matt takes over pulling the sled and the dragonets hop into the air. They are all are back in the air, they head back to the baby bear and James. Matt spots the pair by James’ glowing stone pendant. Matt and the sleigh are too big to land on the shrinking ice block. He hovers around, circling the pair on the ice block. Alex and Bethany circle around and Alex grabs James’ arm. Bethany goes over to reach for the baby bear’s arm, but he pulls it away and lies down on the ground whimpering. The momma bear sees this and growls, making a barking noise. She is instructing the baby bear to grab on to the dragon, and letting her baby know that it will be alright. The baby bear stands up slowly on his hind legs, still whimpering and shaking.
“Alex, lower me so that I can grab the baby bear’s arm please. Now Bethany, when I grab baby bear’s arm, I need you to glide in and grab the other arm,” says James.
She lowers him down and he reaches with his other arm, grabbing baby bear’s arm. Bethany glides in and grabs baby bear. But as they all start to go up. Baby Bear pulls his arm and swings himself and wraps his arms around James neck. Bethany quickly glides underneath Alex and James lets go, landing on Bethany’s back. With a sigh of relief by all, they fly back and land where they first saw the Momma Polar Bear. They hug each other and decide that all of them will go to Santa’s village. Everyone without wings climbs into the sleigh. Momma Bear holds baby bear in the back of the sleigh, curled up together. James climbs in the sleigh, pulls Syvok in to the sleigh, and they sit down. Matt removes the harness from around his neck; the dragonets separate the harness so there are two slots, and place it around their necks. Now back in the air, Matt, who is leading the sleigh, bugles again. James looks over the side and sees a huge gate begin to open. They land just outside of the two open doors. Inside it is full of shiny lights and some elves in a line with two reindeer on the side. Santa all dressed in red waving to them all.
“Ho Ho Ho! Welcome.” He says.
