“Who we were had washed away with the summer. Who we are was yet to be seen.”
Summer school at Alcott High was only supposed to gain Sadie Peters extra credit, nothing more. Her goal wasn’t to make friends, or gain the attention of the most popular football player, yet she managed both. Her life was cruising along on course … until that summer.
Could a simple stint in a different school change her identity completely and introduce her to love for the first time? How would that affect her relationship with Lily, her best friend?
Hopefully their friendship was strong enough to make it through the tumultuous summer. Sadie learns that great things come with change, but sometimes memories of the past are hardest to part with.

Author Interview

1. Where did the story idea come from for WWW?
I was actually in the middle of writing a completely different story when the idea came to me. I was laying in bed thinking about how when I went to summer school before my senior year, it really changed me. And that was that. My story was born. Sadie’s character came first. And I didn’t even know there would be two male characters until I was in the middle of writing the book. Things can happen like that when you don’t expect it.
2. How did you design such a beautiful cover?
I was lucky enough to meet a photographer who lives in Georgia. I wanted the models to be real teens who weren’t stock models. She did a private shoot just for the cover and within a few weeks, we had the shot. Then, from there the designer made it into the cover you see today.
3. One of the characters in the book is named Kyleigh after your daughter, does the fictional character share any qualities with the real one?
Yes, she shares a few qualities. Kyleigh in the book has hearing loss and my Kyleigh does as well. I wanted to have a diverse character who wasn’t like every other teen girl. Of course my Kyleigh is only nine so I’m not sure what she’ll be like as a teenager, so I had to use my imagination there. My Kyleigh is gentle and kind and so is book Kyleigh. She’s everyone’s friend and I wanted that to stay true in the book as well.

4.. Contemporary romance is a new genre for you. Can your fans expect more of this? Yes absolutely. I love writing Paranormal and they can expect more of that in the future but writing contemporary romance was so much fun. I will continue to write both.Do you have a WIP that you can share with us?

Yes. I’m actually writing a book called, The Librarian. I do not have an official blurb yet for it but I can give you the rough draft.
Emme Bailey was enjoying her life as a college student until the day her Gram passed away. Emme must leave California and head back to Maine to bury the only family she ever knew. Emme only meant to stay long enough to find a replacement librarian for the library Gram owned. Being a small town librarian was not what Emme wanted for her future but when she finds a special set of books, she may change her mind. She begins reading them one dark wintery night and is pulled into the first chapter, literally. She finds herself in 1892 England on a sunny day staring at the ever so handsome Jack Ridgewell. With each chapter Emme learns that you can truly fall in love with a character in a book. Full of deep earth shattering romance these books show Emme that sometimes you never know what you want until you’re forced to turn the pages.
6. When can we hope to see the WIP published?
I’m planning on publishing it early 2015.

GOLD James Saves the Moon Adventure!

Standard

Good Day Folks,  10656290_10153090139793056_406760879_ncerfiicate

Just wow so surprised and excited. My first book James Saves the Moon was awarded the Gold medal from Readers Favorite International Book Awards Gold Medal Children’s Fantasy /Sci-Fi.   https://readersfavorite.com/2014-award-contest-winners.htm#book11891 The awards were announced September 1.  I was expecting honorable mention. Here is the review of James Saves the Moon from Readers Favorite. https://readersfavorite.com/book-review/11891  Thank you Readers Favorite reviewers and judges for awarding James Saves the Moon with the gold.

Reviewed by Bil Howard for Readers’ Favorite

“James Saves the Moon”, written by Wendy Nystrom, is a delightful children’s picture book that combines a child’s imagination with Icelandic mythology. The illustrations by Jim Weidman, in a blue tone with colorful characters, lend a mythological feel to the story of a young boy (James), who sees the moon over one of the high mountains and decides that if he climbs to the top of the mountain he can reach out and touch the moon. Slipping quietly out of his bedroom window, he sets out on his journey. On his way up the mountain he stumbles over some rocks and disturbs one of Iceland’s mythological figures (Syvok), who joins him on his journey. They suddenly realize that unless they move faster, the moon will leave before they make it to the top of the mountain. In order that they can move faster, Syvok summons a dragon (Matthias), who allows them to ride on his back. They discover that the moon is stuck on the mountain and they will have to help get it unstuck. The three work as a team to set the moon free and while doing so, James truly does touch the moon.

The color of the illustrations by Jim Weidman and the very well-written story by Wendy Nystrom make “James Saves the Moon” a rare treasure for a children’s picture book. Its simplicity combined with the kind of story that stirs the imagination of a child make it something that will stick in the mind of the reader for a lifetime. This book gives a little bit of a taste of the colorful and flavorful history of Iceland and its traditions. It is highly recommended for its ability to help stir a child’s imagination. A wonderfully simple and delightful tale.

I am truly honored and proud to receive this award. I began writing while living in Iceland 2005, while keeping my then 7 year old son up on his english while he was becoming fluent in Icelandic. We were running out of books he liked and I was rather upset their were not more adventure books. My son wakes up and tells me the adventures he has while the rest of us are sleeping. One day for real he ran to tell me the moon is sitting on the mountain. “I am going to climb the mountain and touch the moon” The next day after I had a wonderful dream I hand wrote the 1st draft of James Saves the Moon. My son and Iceland unlocked my imagination and I began to have vivid dreams and writing more adventures. I now have 4 books adventures in this series published with Anchor Group Publishing http://anchorgrouppublishing.com/, https://www.facebook.com/anchorgrouppublishing.  I am working on two adult novels and two more in my kids series. I want to thank Anchor Group Publishing for adding me. I love being part of Anchor Group Publishing. I also want to thank my fans, family and friends all of you have supported me on this writing adventure. I really want children to have adventure and open their imagination so in the future they will bring new ideas for our world. Carved in Cherry (The Curse Collectors Series) by Elizabeth Kirke Adventure

Standard
Good Day Folks
Coming June First!
One thing set Lydia Shaw and her store apart from the other antique shops in town…
Lydia’s collection was plagued by curses, and it was her duty to break them.
Rachel, Angie, and Jo knew nothing about their aunt’s secret life. In fact, they didn’t even know she owned an antique shop, until they inherited it. Unfortunately for them, Lydia passed down more than just her store. The sisters are the proud new owners of countless deadly curses, buried under centuries of dust.
Lydia also left behind her apprentice, Peter. He does everything he can to protect the girls, as they explore their new store, unaware of the dangers it hides. In spite of his efforts, Rachel finds herself obsessed with opening a strange trunk, Angie has vivid dreams, haunted by a man who claims he needs her help, and Jo’s imagination starts to run wild.
When one of them falls victim to a curse, it’s up to Peter and her sisters to save her. But, if Peter can’t teach them to wield a magic, that he barely understands himself, she’ll be the first one to die…
Here’s an exclusive sneak peek for you!

   “Who are you?” she called.
The man frowned at her. “You can … you can see me?”
The question caught her off guard. Angie wasn’t sure what she had been expecting him to ask, but that wasn’t it. “Y-yes. Who are you?”
He cleared his throat. “Ethan. My name is Ethan.” He moved toward her, and the light from the cell phone made him easier to see and less threatening. “What’s your name?”
   “Angie.”
Angie studied him. He was cute. He had dirty blond hair, which was styled and gelled up unusually high. Khaki pants and a knit, button up sweater, made up his really preppy, bordering on outdated, outfit.
Ethan smiled at her. He looked happy. No, more than happy, he looked overjoyed. “Angie,” he breathed. “You’re beautiful.”
Well, that was straight-forward and awkward. Angie smiled weakly. “Uh … thanks.”
It seemed like he realized his comment had made her uncomfortable. “I’m sorry. It’s just that you’re the first person I’ve seen … the first person I’ve spoken to in a long time.”
   “How long?”
Ethan shook his head. “I don’t know.”
She realized, with a start, that she recognized him. “Oh my God, I saw you! I saw your reflection today!”
   “You did?”
The thought made Angie’s heart pound. She had been awake then. How had she seen him while awake? She took another look at his clothes. Did anybody dress like that anymore? God, what if he’s a freaking ghost? He looked real, solid. Alive. Weren’t ghosts supposed to be transparent or something? “I don’t understand. How can I see you when … if nobody else can?”
Ethan furrowed his brows at her. “What is your trisk-rune?”
   “What?”
   “Your trisk-rune. What is it?”
Angie shook her head. “I don’t know what you mean.”
He seemed confused by her answer. “You don’t know what your trisk-rune is?” He looked around. “But then … what are you doing here?”
“Here? In the shop?” Angie shrugged. “My sisters and I—”
Ethan stumbled back a step. “What? Your sisters?”
   “Yes.”
“You’re one of them? Is that why you can see me?”
“What?” Angie took a step closer. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“You did this to me!” he yelled. “You and your sisters!”
“No!” Angie shook her head, baffled. “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” As she spoke, she moved closer to him and reached out, even though he was halfway across the room.
“Stay away from me!” He waved his hands through the air and then, to Angie’s utter shock, a ball of white fire was flying toward her.
As she raised her hands to protect herself, she screamed.
