Now Waffles and Pancakes, along with their owners, are about to learn another lesson, A Lesson in Bullying.

I have delayed my debut show until 2014 so stay tuned for more on this.
I had the honor and pleasure to read and talk with children’s author Eric A Kimmel. We had a blast talking about kid books, family memories, publishers, and where the market is heading.
We both agreed kids love a fun, story. He enjoys going to classrooms and reading to children. He has numerous books available. We both decided that the electronic market is changing rapidly but kids books seem to sell more books in print. Whether electronic books will take over in the children’s market in unknown. Most important thing was keep kids reading, dreaming and stir their imagination.
How I stumbled on Eric A Kimmel’s books was I was researching Hanukkah. The first book I read was
I fell in love with this book and read four more of his books. Hershel saves Hanukkah by out smarting goblins. His books are a really good read. I think any kid or adult would love his folk tales. The illustrations are wonderful in all his books.
I highly recommend his books. He has many books check out his website he even has a few that he reads to you. http://ericakimmel.com/ You and your kids will enjoy his website. His books are all available on Amazon too. Eric A Kimmel Amazon Link
My current favorite is Jack and the Giant Barbecue. Super cool new spin on Jack and the Bean Stalk.
Jack goes on a quest to retrieve his fathers stolen barbecue recipes. It is a fun exciting adventure.
Eric A. Kimmel is a native New Yorker who lives in Oregon. He was born in Brooklyn, NY where he learned to love books and traditional stories from an early age. He could hear five different languages without leaving his block. Eric taught teachers as a professor of Education at Indiana University at South Bend and Portland State University. His favorite classes were children’s literature, language arts, storytelling, and handwriting. He left the university in 1993 to become a full-time writer, a dream he had had since kindergarten.Eric’s books have won numerous awards. He and his wife Doris have traveled all over the world, sharing his books and stories with school children in China, Africa, and Turkey.
I hope you liked this adventure. Enjoy the adventure every day, WB

Tomfoolery 13 Yule Lads Of Iceland and what do you get? A lot of Tomfoolery and Fun I’ll bet! The Thirteen Yule Lads of Iceland are much different than the Santa Clause we know. They are mischievous, troublesome, funny, and full of curiosity. Much like James, so when James visits them in their home with Syvok, almost gets eaten by their mother and is taunted by the Christmas Cat, they know right where they are going to come when they visit town the 13 days of Christmas. James finds out that the Yule Lads make the noisiest house guests ever when they come to stay. They clang pots, slam doors, and even bring their own lamb. However amidst all the ruckus what they create most of all is joy and fun for the holidays.
This is a book you and your kids will want to read all the time and at Christmas Time. It was my favorite story when we lived in Iceland. I add a different spin to the old legend.

I do keep a note book next to my bed but still, some of the visual details gets lost.
I have been involved in talks about my own radio show. Hopefully it will be revealed soon what is happening there and who I may work with. Still plugging away on my local Library Renovation Team. Hoping to wrap this up in February. The good news we have 70% raised so the City went forward with the renovation. The library should move back to the renovated building in June of 2014. We still need to raise the last 30%. My PA and I have put together a fun official release for Book 3 Tomfoolery and 13 Yule Lads of Iceland event on FB. So we are having fun but the days are flying by fast. My kids are wrapping up their fall sports. My oldest James will be starting drivers ed in November eeeeeeek. My hubby is home on Sabbatical and writing a book. I moved out of the office and into a corner in a sitting area. I am adjusting. The bummer part is I cannot close the door when working. Crazy busy adventure. I had more to say but the University that I live behind was venting something for many hours and driving me insane. I was told around dinner time they were blowing out the sprinkler system for winter.
Keep up with specific details on my FB page listed in the links below. Every day you wake up is a good day. Enjoy the Adventure, WB
First I want to let you all know my ebooks are all on sale The sale ends October 1. Links are below. I thought I would share something I have discovered about authors. When most of submit us our books to reviewers, we all of sudden become nervous wrecks. I do. While I wait all of sudden I am insecure about my writing. It does not matter how many say I love your books, or my kids love your books. It does not matter we are waiting for that one review that will crush us for a little while. These are the emotions I go through.
They will hate, the story is to long, they catch some grammatical error, etc. This will be the one where a nice reviewer emails me and says I really do not like your story so will not review instead of posting a 1 star review. Then I try to convince myself it I can only learn from this and do better. These are the thoughts I have and I know many others do. Authors are a insecure bunch. But this is good, it makes us better writers.
Well so far I have be very blessed. None of these images in my head have come true. My reviews have been outstanding and criticisms have been very helpful.I want to thank all who take the time to review, share and spread the word that children will love my stories and hopefully let them explore the adventure.
“The color of the illustrations by Jim Weidman and the very well-written story by Wendy Nystrom make “James Saves the Moon” a rare treasure for a children’s picture book.
“The biggest advantage of adventure stories is that they encourage children to think and be imaginative. It gives them the freedom to dream, experiment, think differently, and create their own characters. I found the little trolls and dragonets very interesting and they add to the whimsical quality of the story.”

James Saves the Moon
How does it differ from other genre?
Paranormal Days Gone Awry
My novel is a Urban Fantasy based off my short story published in Anchor Groups Anthology Paranormal Days Gone Awry. My novel is about secret societies operating for 1000’s of years to protect the earth. This novel is set in the present in Portland. Then my two childrens books are my normal genre. I have having fun with my two main characters Blaze the dragon and her partner Carolyn a troman (half human half troll).
Why do you write what you do?
Well I started writing in 2005, while living in Iceland. The environment and life style is conducive for creative activities. Now I have ideas for book ideas pop up every where I go. I dream many of the stories.
If I am stuck, before I go to sleep I tell myself to travel on this adventure with a character most of the time it is with Blaze from the novel I am working on. She takes me on many adventures. I have always had vivid dreams, and embraced my imagination. I am loving this new adventure and learning a new business.
How Does your writing process work?
Some I already talked about. I try to sit down and write in the morning. I put in my music selection and write. When I am blocked I edit and rewrite. Lately life has been throwing me some curve balls so I have not had time to write as often as I like. My ideas have been coming in dreams and I have been to tired to get up at 2 or 4 in the morning to write. I have three kids and we have some changes going on. Plus I am involved with some community projects.
My other news is my third book released in print for Christmas in July. The reason for print first is I am having a release signing event in my local
small city here in Michigan. It will be out soon in eBook as well. Amazon has quite the sale going on in print below $7.
Just click Tomfoolery’s cover to check it out on Amazon. Already have two nice reviews. It is a wild adventure for James and his pals during the 26 days of Christmas Holiday in Iceland. This is my favorite story.
If you are looking for a little Christmas in July grab it now.
Tomfoolery and 13 Yule Lads of Iceland
Why Christmas in July. Well my dear friend Chris, a couple of years ago told me at lunch one day. One side of her family celebrates Christmas in July. I of course asked why and said really! Do any of you celebrate Christmas during the summer months except for the southern hemisphere?
Well it is the only time the family can all get together. They meet I believe at their family lake home. They go all out. Decorate, dress, exchange gifts and eat and have fun. I said to her I am going to release my third book in July and have Christmas in July. Fun huh! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer adventure. Enjoy the Adventure WB
This review is from: James Saves the Moon (Paperback)
Just read the coolest kids book….its called “James Saves The Moon” by Wendy Nystrom.
Wendy’s book starts in Iceland, and her son saw something-remarkable. But-at the same time, he wonders, could it really be? So what does he want to do-explore of course, after all, he is a little boy with a great imagination! James sets out on an adventure inspired by his mom and supported by his family. Along the way he makes a new best friend, and other friends. He finds out some fables of Iceland, and explores things around-but most of all, he experiences a journey of a lifetime with his new friends. Really, this book is one that will spark your child’s imagination, set them off in wonder, and give them something to aspire for! Wendy’s illustrations will give you the feel of another land, an adventure in itself-great job to her illustrator! Her writing makes each image pop together, and form almost a movie in your mind. Such a fun book to enjoy!
My 9 year old has become a “mega fan” and reads the book daily! It is one of his newest favorites! He talks about it, shows people the book, and explains it to his brothers–that is a book that has truly captured a child—phenomenal.
I was looking at music and came across Steppenwolfs’s song Born to be wild. Listen to it. We are Born to be wild.
“
Lookin’ for adventure And whatever comes our way”
Like a true nature’s child We were born, born to be wild We can climb so high I never wanna die
Born to be wild Born to be wild
I was recently adopted for Adopt a Author Event on FB. Brittany The-BookNerd Carrigan, She has set up a 3 month event on Facebook. She is a blast to work with and helps us authors. Here is the event page if you would like to join. Wendy and Rachel’s Promotion- Palooza
I have an event February 13th for our local Festival of the Arts at the Library. It is an interesting event, for an entire month we get to explore different types of art.
I am a guest speaker to discuss children’s literature. As I was writing my presentation I realized children need to be wild. They were born for adventure.
When I wrote my first book James Saves the Moon. We were in the middle of a wonderful fun adventure. We were living in Iceland. My son was 7 learning in Icelandic. I was keeping him up on his English. He is a gifted child especially when it came to being a gifted speaker and adventure. He was a early talker and storyteller. He was speaking in full sentences by the time he was two. Today at 15 he is still gifted in speech. His command of language is unbelievable to me. While I was continuing his education at home to read in English. We discovered many books were boring no adventure. We did discover Tintin. My son loved those books. All about adventure and he could read them both in English and Icelandic. On my last trip to Holland, I picked up a couple that were in Dutch. Now he is exploring music. My twin daughters are more the hands on explorers. They want activity, risk takers. I find them on roofs, up trees, swing set poles. They have little fear of the unknown. They were climbing mountains, cliffs, soccer nets at two. I could not have blinds or drapes in their windows when they were toddlers. I could not have open windows either.
I think this why a little place in my brain was unlocked with adventures, when my son one day said . “Look Mom the moon is on the mountain. I am going to touch it tonight. We all ran to the window in his bedroom to look.
“Let me tell you it was on the mountain, huge and it seemed we could feel the moon beams shooting through us. I had a dream that night. The next day I wrote the first draft. Since then I have had many dreams and written many things. The hard part is focusing long enough to finish a story. I love having this part of the brain free to explore , dream, share the adventures that were locked up for so many years.
The most important thing for a child is being able to go on an adventure. Children’s books should have an adventure no matter what. They want to explore touch, feel, take apart, figure things out as if always on a adventure. I think the most gifted educators are the ones to take a child on an adventure every day in class no matter what the subject is. Let’s, allow children be born to be wild it is there gift to us and our future. Exploration and Adventure is a good thing.
My children’s books are all about adventure my reviews and private messages have brought me pure joy when mothers tell me, my goodness my kids could not put it down. My son wants to ride the dragon. My child with ADHD or Autism was captivated with your story. Kids need to let their imaginations fly. The illustrations have a dragon on every picture. I am lucky I have worked with two wonderful illustrators. Jim Weidman and Kelly Murray. I came to Anchor Group Publishing with my own illustrators and my poor grammar skills. They embraced my adventures. Working with Anchor Group and the authors of Anchor Group has been a wonderful adventure. All the authors are so talented and take you on adventures. The lil anchors (kids authors) have fun adventures. We help each other, encourage each other to be our best. Adventure and Exploring is in my opinion the trail to happiness.
ENJOY YOUR ADVENTURE, WB
